Directions

Address

9656 Waters Ave S

Seattle, WA 98118

To reach the church from Rainier Ave. S., turn south on 57th Ave. S.  Proceed left at the fork; at this point the street name changes to Waters Ave.  After a few short blocks the church will be on the left.

King County Metro bus 7 stops conveniently in front of the church on Waters Avenue South.

Parking

  • Parking is off S Keppler St, on the south side of the church.

  • STANCE reserves the first 5 parking spaces on the south side of the church on S Keppler Street for our performers and guests with mobility challenges.

  • If you do not have mobility challenges, we request that you park in the lot across from these spaces on S Keppler Street.

Church Entrance

  • There is no elevator at Rainier Beach Presbyterian. If you need to move between the upstairs and downstairs levels, the sidewalk is the best way to do so.

  • There is a smooth, 58 inches wide, wheelable path going from the parking spots just south of the building to the upstairs and downstairs entrances.

  • The entrance to the downstairs is on S Keppler Street, last door on the left.

  • The entrance to the upstairs is on Waters Ave S, and has a slight uphill incline leading to the red doors at the front of the church.

  • The upstairs entrance of the church has two red doors, one of which will be open. That door is 42 inches wide.

  • To enter the sanctuary (where STANCE performs), those using mobility assistance devices will need to enter through the upstairs double-wide doors just past the front entrance.

Seating

  • The pews have a few inches of padding on the bench, and none on the backs.

  • Please keep the middle aisle and ramp area clear as an accessible pathway for our guests and performers using mobility aids.

  • There are 13 pews on each side of the church, and most of them are 142 inches wide (11-12 feet wide).

  • The front three rows are reserved for our guests with accessibility challenges, and those who are attending the performance with them. The three pews in the front left are shorter to accommodate wheelchairs near the outer aisle.

Chairs

In order to assist in overall accessibility of the space, we request that performers and guests utilize the pews for seating. If you require a chair, please reach out to Molly Wilvich (molly@stanceseattle.org) to let us know.

ASL Interpretation

  • STANCE strives to provide ASL Interpretation whenever possible, and to share that information on our event pages.

  • STANCE provides physical programs which include links to digital programs for our performances where lyrics may be read and guests may learn more the music we are performing.

  • Please reach out to Molly Wilvich (molly@stanceseattle.org) if you would like to know if ASL interpretation will be provided at a specific event.

Air quality and masking

  • Rainier Beach Presbyterian has a basic air filtration system in place, and the airspace is large.

  • Please do not use scented personal care products (such as perfumes or essential oils) when attending our events, in order to make the space accessible to our performers and guests with allergies.

  • The church currently uses scented products in all of their restrooms, and we are working with them to transition the upstairs (accessible) restroom to using fragrance-free products

  • We request that audience members remain masked for our performance.

  • Choir members may choose to be masked or unmasked for our June and November performances.

  • Talent Show performers may unmask for their performance, and we request that they remask after their performance is over.

Questions?

If you have any questions about accessibility for STANCE events, please contact Molly Wilvich (molly@stanceseattle.org).

Restrooms

  • The accessible, single-stall upstairs restroom is reserved for our performers and guests with mobility challenges.

  • There are 2 all-gender multi-stall restrooms downstairs.

  • Currently all of the restrooms use fragranced products, but we are working with the church to get the upstairs (accessible) restroom to use fragrance-free products.
